William Lewand Obituary

Lewand, William Sean (“Billy”), 55, a paralegal and resident of Tustin, CA passed away on March 14, 2023 in Orange, California due to complications of type 1 diabetes. He was born December 12, 1967 to Kevin and Jeanne Lewand of Toledo, Ohio.

Billy was born in Panorama City, California and was raised and educated first in Malibu and then Tustin, California.  He graduated from Foothill High School in 1986.  He attended Regis University in Colorado.  He joined his father’s company, PHS Management, where he worked until it closed in 2016.  He took great pride in helping his father run the company, where many employees worked for decades and became like family.

Billy’s greatest pride and joy was his family.  He was preceded in death by his father, Kevin Sr., and is survived by his beloved daughters, Kianni Lewand Kjome (Ryan) and Kayla Lewand, from his marriage to Desiree Portillo, and Mia Dominique Lewand and his stepdaughter Alexa Ramirez, from his marriage to Dalia Lewand.  He is also survived by his mother, Jeanne of Newport Beach, California; his sister Kim Lewand Martin and her children, Kelly and Will Martin, of Manhattan Beach, California; his brother Kevin Jr. Lewand and his daughter, Sage, of Monterey, California; and his little sister Danielle Lewand-Parsons (Graeme) and their children, Aidan and Ave, of Ulladulla, Australia.  Billy was the most amazing Uncle to all of his nieces and nephews.  He could always be counted on to lend an ear and support them unconditionally, and to plan fun adventures for them and his children, like going to the mountains to go tubing and snowboarding, to water parks, to sporting events, to movies, and bowling.

Billy enjoyed snowboarding, surfing (especially in his special place, Las Gaviotas), soccer, swimming in the family pool with his extended family and friends, and cooking for everyone, from his specialty, lamb chops, to other  Mediterranean food and his famous chili.  He had a great love of music, starting back in high school as an original rockabilly and punk rocker, and also loved classic rock, especially the Velvet Underground and his favorite, the Grateful Dead.

Billy was a big sports fan and was a true blue Lakers and Rams fan, going all the way back to their Coliseum days when he would go as a little boy with his whole family.  He was ecstatic when the Rams finally returned home to Los Angeles and even more ecstatic when they won the Superbowl in their hometown.

A memorial service will be celebrated at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 1221 Wass, Tustin, California  on April 13, 2023 at 3:00.  The family will be greeting friends and relatives immediately thereafter for a reception at St. Paul’s.
