Virjean C. Leatherman

Leatherman, Virjean C., died of natural causes on the afternoon of April 10, 2023, at the age of 89. She was born in Long Beach on March 24, 1934. In 1953 Virjean Fesmire married Fred J. Leatherman Jr. and together they raised eight children. She worked in a medical office for nearly 30 years. Virjean enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, and photography while raising her children. Later she enjoyed sewing, gardening, quilting, and working on the family's genealogy. On the major holidays she sewed custom outfits and dresses for her grandchildren. She was a devoted mother who attended 1000's of her children's and grandchildren's games, recitals, graduations and other events. Virjean was a faithful soul who was a member of St. Joseph and Holy Family parishes since 1957. Her wonderful sense of humor kept us laughing to the end.

She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, her parents, Thadeus and Henrietta Fesmire, and her son, Fred James Leatherman III. She is survived by her seven children, seventeen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
 

Viewing will be at Brown Colonial Mortuary between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Monday April 24, 2023. Funeral services will be held at Holy Family Cathedral on Tuesday April 25, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., followed immediately by a reception at the family house in Orange
