Tana Capuano Bancroft Walsh, 78, passed away peacefully at home in La Palma, CA of metastatic uterine cancer on Friday, November 6, 2020. Her spouse, Edward Walsh, survives her. Her son, Jeffrey Bancroft, preceded her in death, survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Bancroft) Riel, spouse Michael, and her son, Steve Bancroft, spouse Marie. She had six grandchildren: Megan (Riel) Murray, spouse Alexander, Shannon Riel, Mitchell Bancroft, Kaleigh (Bancroft) Ingstad, spouse, Scott, Matthew Bancroft, spouse Erica, and Brittany Bancroft. She had twin great grandchildren, Owen and Helen Murray and a new great grandchild due in January 2021. She had many cousins, nieces and nephews that she cherished.
Tana was born in Chicago, Illinois, daughter to the late Joseph and Minnie Capuano. She was the oldest of two sisters, the late Carol Lee Wells, and surviving sister, Joanell Serna. The Capuano Family moved from Illinois to California in 1959 where Tana attended her senior year at Mater Dei High School and graduated in 1960. She later returned to Mater Dei High School in 1979 where she was employed in the Dean’s Office and remained for 36 years of service. She was very proud of her Italian American heritage and especially her growing family. Her most happy place belonged at her vacation home at the Colorado River where she spent many contented moments with family and friends often enjoying the water, boating, skiing and Laughlin, NV.
In the abundance of caution during the current pandemic, Tana declined risking the health of others by holding funeral services. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date and time. In lieu of flowers, consider a honor/memorial donation to www.AutismSpeaks.org She was proud of all her grandchildren but had a special relationship with her granddaughter, Shannon, with ASD.
