Raymond Kelly, Sr. Obituary

Raymond Patrick Kelly, age 80, of Huntington Beach California, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020, from heart failure.  Ray was born in Ossining, New York to parents, Raymond and Sarah Kelly on February 20, 1940.  He attended Ossining High School before joining the Army National Guard.  Ray married the love of his life, Mary Ann (Vaccaro) in 1960, having known her since the third grade.  They moved to Peekskill, New York, and together they raised a family of five children: Colleen, Raymond Jr, Tonianne, Michael, and John.  Ray worked for Union Carbide and eventually became a sheet metal worker by trade.   He and Mary Ann moved their family to Huntington Beach, California in 1977 where Ray continued in the sheet metal trade, working on many large projects such as the Segerstrom Center for the Arts theater.  Ray was known for his generosity, integrity and deep love for his wife and family.  Ray found great joy in attending all his grandchildren’s sporting and school events.  He had a special place in his heart for the game of baseball where he and Mary Ann would head out to the Angels Spring Training in Arizona every year.  He will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann Kelly; his five children, Colleen Altendorf (husband, Robert), Raymond Kelly Jr. (wife, Stacy), Tonianne Kelly (Southron), Michael Kelly (wife, Anne) and John Kelly (wife, Kristin).  Ray was blessed with 12 grandchildren: Madison Deghi  (husband, John), Zachary Altendorf, Chase Altendorf, Christopher Kelly (wife, Sophie), Caitlyn Ecker (husband, Thomas), Nick Southron, Jack Southron, Michael Kelly Jr, Caroline Kelly, Olivia Kelly, Liam Kelly, Ava Kelly, and 2 great-grandchildren: Charlotte Deghi and Nora Ecker.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private memorial service will be held on December 30th.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project or to your favorite Veteran’s organization.
