Raymond Deveau Obituary

Raymond Daniel Deveau

October 29th 1924-May 02nd 2024

Raymond Daniel Deveau, 99, of Westminster, CA passed away to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday May 02nd, 2024. Born on October 29th, 1924, Raymond grew up in humble beginnings. As a young child he grew up close to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and sold newspapers at the 1932 Olympics. Upon entering his older teen years, he attended Manuel Arts High School but eventually transferred to Mount Carmel High School where he graduated early after being drafted into World War II. Ray was shipped to Normandy on the famous Queen Mary and eventually arrived in Normandy 19 days after D-day. As a member of the General Patton, 3rd Army, he was a medic and drove an ambulance. Raymond participated in the Battle of the Bulge and helped allies evacuate the survivors from Dachau, a German concentration camp. Upon his return home from war, Ray took a position at Southern California Edison, working in a number of capacities before retiring after 40 years of dedicated service. After he retired, Ray remained highly active and enjoyed his numerous woodworking projects, gardening, and was continuously active with local veterans who fought and served in the Battle of the Bulge.

Ray was a man of incredible character; someone you could always rely on if you ever needed anything and cared deeply for his family. As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was always there to do whatever he could to help out in any situation. Raymond loved the Lord and spent his time volunteering at his local Catholic Church. Any interaction or conversation was memorable as he always made everyone feel seen and heard. His generation was truly considered the greatest generation because of the attributes he possessed. He was a family man, helped his neighbors, and held true to his strong Catholic values. Raymond was an all-around wonderful one-of-a-kind human. Ray is survived by his wife Barbara Deveau who he was married to for 65 years, and his three children, Paul, Denise & Michelle, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and a third on the way.
