Raul began his life in Arlington, California on June 06, 1948. At the age of five years old, his family moved to the city of Orange where he has lived ever since. To help his family, Raul started working at the age of twelve at a neighborhood chicken ranch for twenty-five cents an hour. This job was followed by working at wholesale nurseries for a dollar an hour while in high school. Raul was a proud member of the first graduating class at Villa Park High School.
His parents were honored that Raul was the first family member to graduate from college. Raul received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Social Work from Long Beach State University. He started his professional career in the probation department. Based on his strong work ethic, he was soon promoted to supervisor for the Orange County Probation Department. After twenty years, he retired after suffering an acute stroke in 1986.
Raul’s passion for teaching lead him back to college to obtain his teaching credential. During his teaching career, he obtained his long-term goal of acquiring his Master’s degree.
Although, Raul had a very successful professional career, his loving family always came first. Raul’s true love in life was his wife, Ruth Aguilera. On September 23, 2022, they celebrated fifty years of marriage. Raul and Ruth shared a bond and love that can never be separated. Raul was blessed with two children, Ruthy and Rudy who he adored. Later in life, the title of grandpa was the greatest gift he received. The joy of hearing the laughter and singing of Daniel and Mia always placed a smile on his face.
Raul loved working on his home, tending to his roses, orchids and cutting his lawn. His hobbies included lake and ocean fishing, bike riding, walking and taking his wife to the casino.
Raul was a very hard-working man who took care of his family till the end. He was a great son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him.
Raul Jose Aguilera is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Ruth Aguilera, sisters Joanne Munoz and Emily Delgado. His daughter Ruth Marie Aguilera and son, Rudy Raul Aguilera and daughter in law, Cindy Aguilera and grandchildren, Daniel and Mia.
