Ofelia “Cande” Candelaria Ramos October 26, 1928 – August 9, 2020 Ofelia “Cande” Candelaria Ramos, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home on August 9, 2020 in Santa Ana, CA. She was born in El Paso, TX in 1928 to Jesus and Maria Luisa Muela. After she graduated from Bowie High School, she met the man who would be her husband. In 1950 she married Antonio Candelaria and the following year gave birth to their first child, Rita. A couple of years later, Pat followed, then Danny and finally Esther. In the early 60’s job opportunities led the family to Orange County. In 1964 the family finally settled in Santa Ana where she called home for 56 years. She was predeceased by former husband and father of her children. Ofelia was a hard-working mom who had raised her family singlehandedly since 1970. She worked in the medical field most of her life in doctor’s offices and hospitals. Finally, at 67 years old she retired as a medical insurance claims adjuster. Besides her family, what she loved most was to dance. And she was a good dancer, cha-cha, cumbias, there wasn’t a dance she could not do. She is survived by her loving family: Children Rita (Bob) Roberts, Patricia (Steve) Carter, Daniel Candelaria, and Esther (Frank) Gonzales. Grandchildren Andrew (Aundrea) Roberts, David (Denise) Roberts, Cristina (Ben) Ambriz and Nichole, Jessica, and Danielle Candelaria. Great-grandchildren Madison, Devin, Zach, Alexis, Matthew, Ryan, Kyla, Syrus, Jayden, Novalee, and Ashton. She is also survived by sisters, Maria Luisa Gonzalez and Magdalena (Manuel) Gonzalez of El Paso, TX and many nieces and nephews. It was the love for her family and the time she spent with them that brought her the most joy. She will always be with us in memory and in our hearts. She has been reunited in Heaven with her parents and brothers, Juventino Muela and Alfredo Muela. Due to the pandemic and limited seating, a private family service will be held at Brown Colonial Mortuary in Santa Ana on August 30 at 10 am. On August 31, a mass will take place at St. Anne’s Catholic Church at 11 am followed by a graveside service at Santa Ana Cemetery.
