Myrtis Maddox Obituary

Heaven has yet another angel, as Myrtis Carrie (Wright) Maddox departed this earthly life on April 8, 2022 in Garden Grove, California.

Myrtis was born on April 15 ,1935 in Russell County, Alabama to the late Nettie Mae Kelly Wright and the late James Wright.

She accepted Christ as her savior at an early age. Myrtis was a long standing , faithul, and devoted member of Community Temple Church in Santa Ana, California until her health starting failing. Myrtis served on the church Usher Board and was execeptionally welcoming to all.

Myrtis was a graduate of South Gerard High School in Phenix City, Alabama where she was an outstanding basketball player.

Myrtis was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late PFC Charles William Maddox in Phenix City, Alabama on June 6. 1956.  There were four children born to this union Sylvia Ann Maddox Gordon, Stanley Maddox, Ronnie Maddox, and Larry Maddox.

Myrtis and Charles relocated their family from Columbus, Georgia to Santa Ana, California in 1963 for better opportunities

She was preceded in death by her spouse Charles William Maddox, Sons Stanley and Ronnie Maddox. Sisters Mary Deramus, Bernice Jackson, Charlie Mae Sumbry, Callie B Rogers and one brother James Wright Jr.

She Leaves to cherish her loving memories: Devoted daugther Sylvia Ann Gordon,  son Larry Falondo Maddox,  three grandsons Orlondo William Gordon, Martise Maddox, Mason Maddox and two great grandson, Dominyck Gordon and Devin Gordon, Sister Julia Ashmore Of Pooler Georgia, Brother McKenly (Charline) Wright of Gary, Indiana, Special Niece Carol Ashmore of Pooler, Georgia, Special Sister-in-law Burdell Spivery of Cleveland Ohio, and a host of nieces , nephews, other relatives and Friends.
