Matias Fernandez Carrillo

 Matias F. Carrillo, 91, of Santa Ana, passed away on January 28, 2024, after a serious infection that he was not strong enough to fight.

Matias was born on February 24, 1932, in Ventura County.  He spent much of his youth in Ensenada, Baja California.  After the death of his father, he came to the United States to work to help provide financial support to his mother and siblings.

In 1953, he met Guadalupe Covarrubias in Ensenada. Matias and Guadalupe went on to have five children, Eloise, Josephine, Mary Lou, Lupe, and Matias.

Matias loved Dodger baseball and soccer. He loved to travel throughout the U.S. and Mexico. He enjoyed taking daily walks and socializing with friends and neighbors.

Matias was predeceased by his only son, Matias who died at birth. Matias is survived by his wife Guadalupe; four daughters Eloise, Josephine, Mary Lou, Lupe; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
