In lieu of flowers the family suggested a donation in Mary Lou’s name to:
Mater Dolorosa Retreat Center or St. Jude’s Ranch for Children.
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of a beloved soul, whose life touched and inspired so many. Mary Louise Bell joined her husband James Wilmont Bell in eternal life on May 27, 2025. Surrounded by her children and family, she passed peacefully while repeating the phrase, “Oh, Happy Day.” Mary Lou was born the daughter of Francis and Elizabeth LeMieux, in Muskegon, Michigan on October 12, 1935. She graduated high school from St. Jean’s Catholic School. It was at a school dance that she met her husband Jim whom she married on August 17, 1957. Together they had five children and settled in Orange, California. Mary Lou would survive Jim and welcome seven grandchildren into her life. Before raising children, Mary Lou enjoyed working in accounting and secretarial positions. Later, she would work as a secretary at Holy Family Church in Orange, CA, becoming an integral part of that community. She enjoyed reading, going to the movies, bowling, playing cards with friends, going to the beach and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, providing endless joy and support. She was a cherished daughter, sibling, spouse, parent, grandparent and friend; roles she carried with immeasurable love. Her circle of friends and loved ones extends far and wide, each touched by her warmth and love.
On July 9, 2025, a rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM, followed by a memorial service at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Newport Beach. We will gather to honor her memory and celebrate a life well lived. A reception will follow on the church grounds—what she fondly called “a party on the beach.” She will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange immediately following the reception.
