Marjorie Shook Eggleston, lovingly known as Marge, was born on June 21, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to
Raymond Shook and Paula McCowell; fourth born of five siblings. She was married to loving husband
Verle Loren Eggleston for 53 years. She is survived by her sisters Paula Baumgart and Kathy Kearney,
daughters Laura Henry and Susan Walsh and her husband Austin, nine grandchildren; Robert Villa (Jess),
Tailyr Henry (Brad), Nicholas Henry (Victoria), Jacob Henry, Veronica Walsh, Austin Walsh, Sean Henry,
William Walsh and Hannah Walsh, four great grandchildren; Cole Wagner, Elena Wagner, Mckenzie
Henry, and June Villa, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved greatly.
Marjorie obtained both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education from Wayne State University and
University of Detroit respectively. She taught for over forty years before retiring from the Santa Ana
Unified School District in 2013. She was passionate about the growth and development of her students,
so proud when she would learn of the successes of her former students. She was a proud public servant
and educator.
Marjorie was a devout Catholic who lived her faith. She served within many Catholic ministries over her
lifetime, as well as serving as both Eucharistic Minister and Lector, most recently at her beloved Christ
Our Savior Catholic Parish. Marjorie lived unwavering faith, never doubting that she would rest with the
Lord, reunited with her beloved husband Verle. Her spirit of optimism and resilience touched everyone
she knew.
