Margaret Roy Obituary

Roy, Margaret ‘Marge’
It is with both great sadness and bittersweet joy that we announce the passing of our mom, MARGE ROY, on October 15th. She died of natural causes, but is still upset because now she won’t hear what everyone is talking about. Mom loved to be in on any and all conversations.
She is now dancing in heaven with the love of her life, LYLE ROY. They met at Santa Ana high school in 1945 and were married after he served time in the Navy. This joyous commitment happened on October 18th, 1947. They settled in Santa Ana and had 5 kids; Fred in 1948, Peggy in 1950, Mike in 1951, Don in 1953 and Kathy in 1964. She was a very good mom and was involved in all of the kids’ activities. Our mom was always telling us kids, and all kids for that matter, that if you get hurt just get up and rub it! Marge raised all of her kids in Santa Ana. The house was just a few blocks from Mater Dei HS. She attended all of the games in the 60’s and 70’s. Later in the 80’s, she went to all of Kathy’s softball games at Foothill HS. Marge lived her life to the fullest, and enjoyed her family and all of her friends! Being so close to the school, most of the school kids came to the house and they all called her 'Mom'. She fed them and offered them a place to stay. She loved it!! She was the best mom for camping, boating, traveling, and attending all kid activities. She was always up for an adventure. When we were very young (1960) she loaded all of us up in a stationwagon, pulled a trailer, and drove to NY to see her sister and she did all of the driving by herself! Dad had to fly out and drive us back.
Marge also loved her time with Lyle! They played golf, loved to go dune buggying, and traveled all over! She enjoyed going to visit her kids and 14 grandchildren in Washington, Paso Robles and SoCal. You could find her going by motorhome, car, plane or train...even at 90 years old!
Lyle and Marge retired and moved to Soboba Hot Springs to join all of their High School friends to travel, play cards, and play more golf. Marge moved back to OC in 2004. Lyle passed away in 2008. She continued to travel and visit family and friends, as much as she could. She loved cross stitching personal blankets for all 20 of her great grandkids. She was a huge Green Bay Packer fan and loved to root them on!
Marge leaves behind her 5 kids and their spouses: Fred(Kathy), Peggy, Mike(Sandy), Don(Beth), Kathy. 14 grandchildren: Craig, Kate, Kevin, Jesse, Becca, Brian, Eric, Jodi, Shannon, Mike, Adam, Bridget, Griffin and Emma and 20 great grandchildren.
