Marcheta (Teter) Pletcher, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on
April 16, 2025, following a long battle with dementia. She leaves behind her husband of 77
years, Virgil, her three daughters, Paula, Reta, and Lisa and their spouses, nine
grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, William,
and his wife, Sharon. Her sister, Marlene, passed away in 2024.
Marcheta was born on August 12,1928, in Carlton, Nebraska to William and Stella Teter.
She moved with her family to Orange County in 1940 and attended Santa Ana High
School. Marcheta was known for her beautiful voice and loved singing at her family’s
church, the Church of the Brethren in Santa Ana, as well as for numerous family events.
Throughout the years, she was deeply involved in her Church and with Sweet Adelines,
singing barbershop harmony in numerous competitions and performances. When her
youngest daughter was older, she went back to work as a Teacher’s Aide in the Santa
Ana Unified School District until her retirement in 1990. Marcheta’s greatest joy was
raising her family, and she was always a generous, kind and loving Mother and
Grandmother.
Though her illness gradually silenced the vibrant spark she once carried, those who knew
her will always remember the joy, laughter and love she brought into the world.
