Manuel "Snake" Medina, 71, of Boyle Heights, California, passed away on January 17, 2026, at Kaiser Permanente on Sunset Blvd. Born in Los Angeles on April 11, 1954, to Nellie and Cristobal Medina, Manuel was one of ten siblings. A proud graduate of Roosevelt High School, he went on to earn a degree in Liberal Arts from East Los Angeles College.
Manuel served in the United States Air Force beginning in 1973 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Deeply committed to his community of Boyle Heights, he dedicated over 30 years of service to helping others at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services.
Following his retirement, Manuel focused his life on his family and friends while remaining an active community member. He was a member of the "Old Timers of Southern California" and a regular supporter of charities for children, veterans, and animals. He found great joy in watching films, singing, dancing, and sharing his love for music with those close to him.
Manuel is survived by his children, Jorge, Antonio, Alyssa, and Marissa Medina, and his five grandchildren, Lily, Cruz, Emma, Azrael, and Nylah. He now rests peacefully with his parents, his brother Goonie, his granddaughter Adelaide, and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His wisdom, warmth, laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
