Obituary

Loretta Lucille Hiebert (Landkamer), 98 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 in Orange, California. Loretta was born in Belvedere, Nebraska on October 22, 1923.  She was the third of ten children of George and Alice (Brophy) Landkamer.

Loretta attended Sacred Heart Catholic School through eighth grade and then attended Hebron High School in Hebron, Nebraska. Loretta loved playing clarinet in the high school band and said that her music was her greatest achievement in school.  Loretta was a devout Catholic and never missed a Sunday mass.  She was a homemaker raising ten children of her own.  She was described as Saint Loretta as she worked hard raising her children in her peaceful way with never a complaint.  She was warm and welcoming and loved talking to people.  In her later years, she took a job at See’s Candies.  She loved getting out of the house and meeting new people.  She made some very dear friends while working there.

Loretta met her husband Burnet (Sonney) Peter Hiebert in Nebraska and they were married on July 2, 1949.  They moved to California in 1950  and lived in Garden Grove for a time and ultimately in their Santa Ana home for 55 years. They loved taking trips to Nebraska to visit the relatives and enjoyed going to the local mountains in Idllywild with the family in tow.  Later in life they enjoyed taking trips locally with just the two of them.  They enjoyed a long marriage until Burnet’s passing in 2000.  Their union was blessed by 10 children – Sara, Steve, Brian, Carol, Greg, David, Dennis, Scott, Diane and Karen. Loretta was reunited with her first daughter Florence in 1993.  Loretta is preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings – Michael, Anna Marie, Donald, Eugene, Margaret, Patricia, and Robert and two sons Brian and David.  She is survived by her siblings Gerald and Barbara, children Florence O’Day, Sara Hendrix, Steve, Carol Breski, Greg, Dennis, Scott, Diane Kimbro, and Karen Rodriguez, 21 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
