Kathryn Smiley, 76, of Tustin, California, passed away on July 11, 2023. She was born on December 15, 1946, in Fargo, North Dakota, to the late Albert and Margaret (Politiski) Magnuson. Kathy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Kathy dedicated 30 years of her life as a Social Worker for the County of Orange, making a difference in the lives of countless individuals. Her compassion and dedication touched the hearts of many.
In her free time, Kathy enjoyed reading every genre but had special affinity for biographies and anything to do with the old west. She spent free time traveling with her husband, antiquing, learning to play guitar, and listening to classic country music. She loved decorating for every holiday and her boundless love for her family was evident in the joy she found in spending time with her grandchildren. Kathy's trips to Las Vegas with her daughters were always highlights in her life.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Darrell and their daughter, Jean. She is also survived by her sons-in-law, Nathan Maker and Shawn Charron, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Kate, Nathan, Archer, and Adam. Kathy was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Charron, whose memory she held dear.
A memorial service to celebrate Kathy's life will be held at Brown Colonial Mortuary on Wednesday, July 19, at 11:00 am. Following the memorial service, a graveside service will take place at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange, with a reception to follow.
