June was born on June 15, 1942, in Riverside, California, to George Martinez and Isabel Lozano. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Gloria, Rita, and Georgie; her beloved son, Eddie; and husband, Johnny Cantu. She is lovingly survived by her sister, Susie; her daughters, Suzan, Teresa, and Monica; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
In January 1962, she married Johnny Cantu, a proud United States Marine. Although June and Johnny later chose different paths, they remained united in their love for their family, sharing holidays and special occasions with grace and mutual respect.
As a dedicated teacher, June believed education could transform lives. She inspired generations of students to pursue higher education, travel the world, dream fearlessly, and never let anyone stand in the way of their future. Teaching Ballet Folklórico, allowing her to share the beauty of culture while instilling confidence, discipline, and pride in her students.
To our family, she was our beloved matriarch. She welcomed everyone with open arms, filling every holiday and gathering with laughter, wonderful food, and unconditional love. Her home was where traditions were born and memories were made.
An adventurer at heart, at 83 years old, she went on one last road trip to see the Grand Canyon, reminding us that it is never too late to embrace life's wonders.
Above all, June lived her faith through kindness, generosity, and encouragement. She believed in people and inspired us to live with courage, compassion, and trust in God. We find peace in Christ's promise knowing she has heard the words:
"Well done, good and faithful servant..."— Matthew 25:23
Until we meet again, we will carry your love in our hearts forever!
