Joanne Marie Taylor

Joanne Marie Taylor passed away peacefully on April 20^th, 2022, in the Enliven care Facility at Las Palmas Senior Community.  

            Joanne was born in 1936 in Pittsburg Pennsylvania to John and Dorothy Bauer. She spent her childhood in Pittsburg and went on to graduate from the Carnegie Technical with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. 

            In 1961 she married George Edward Taylor and the couple was blessed with four children whom they raised in Costa Mesa California.  While focused on her duties as a wife and homemaker, she frequently served as a substitute teacher at Mater Dei High School. 

            A devout Catholic, she attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Costa Mesa and would go on to serve as lector during mass for over 20 years.   Her commitment to the community was likewise demonstrated through her volunteer service with the Costa Mesa Police Department where she assisted with administrative services for over 25 years.  

            When not raising her family or assisting in her church and community, Joanne could be found pursuing her pastimes of bowling, bingo and bridge with friends and family.   A lifelong Pittsburg Steeler fan, she could also be found decked out in Black and Gold waving her Terrible Towel during football season. 

            Joanne she also found joy in creating numerous quilts over the years, many of which went on to win awards at the Orange County Fair.

            Joanne’s legacy includes her four children Michael (Kathryn) Taylor, Matthew Taylor, Mitzi (Harry) Taylor and Marcia (Scott) Taylor.  She is also survived by her sister Barbara, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.  She is preceded in death by her husband George.
