James Lembcke Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Thomas Lembcke, affectionately known as Jim or PJ. Born on October 31, 1938, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Jim peacefully passed away at him home on April 11th in Orange, California, at the age of 86.

Raised in Austin, Minnesota, Jim cultivated a spirit of camaraderie and a love for sports early in life. He continued his education at Mankato State University, where he proudly played on the golf team, showcasing his dedication and competitive spirit.

In 1962, Jim embarked on a new chapter, moving to Long Beach, California. It was there that fate intervened, and he met the love of his life, Karin Korte. Their bond blossomed, leading to a loving marriage that spanned 59 wonderful years. Jim also began his professional career at Hallmark Cards in Long Beach. He ultimately dedicated 25 years of distinguished service as the Western Regional Sales Director before retiring and pursuing multiple business ventures.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jim embraced life's simple pleasures. He found joy in playing golf and tennis, casting a line while fishing in Oregon, but his true passion lay in the thrill of pheasant hunting. Each fall, he eagerly anticipated his annual trips to South Dakota, creating cherished memories with family and friends amidst the open fields.

A devoted sports enthusiast, Jim passionately cheered for his Minnesota Vikings football team, Minnesota Twins baseball team, and the UCLA men's basketball team. Later in life, his greatest joy came from supporting his six grandchildren: Jessica, Rachael, Delaney, Adeline, Jimi, and Wreford. You could always find PJ on the sidelines, enthusiastically watching their football, baseball, soccer, swimming, basketball, and lacrosse games.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Karin Lembcke; his sister, Marcia Lembcke; his loving daughters, Heidi (Ron) Kaulen, Sonja (Brian) Healy, and Nicole (Wref) Chapple; and his treasured grandchildren.

Jim's warm smile, unwavering support, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, dedication, and enthusiasm will continue to live on through his family and friends.

A celebration of life is planned at his home in Orange for close friends and family on May 2nd.
