Jacqueline Briggs Nielsen Obituary

April 20, 1930 - October 12, 2021
Jacqueline, Jackie, Jack, Mom, Mimi, whatever you called her she was probably best known as Mimi. Mom was the eldest of three kids to Herbert H Haysom and Emily Moore Haysom, with 2 brothers, Bert Haysom and Bob Haysom. Mom along with her brothers grew up in Santa Ana and graduated from Santa Ana High School. On moms 20th birthday she gave birth to her first born, Terri Lynn. What a birthday gift! 5 years later she gave birth to twins, Dickie and Diane and 6 years after that Danny arrived. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Shane Gick, Stephanie Fleming, Kristen Mechalavage,  Brian Gaines, Lauren Sherwin, Andy Gick and Danny Hayman, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren along with a few ‘fairy godchildren’ a long the way. She has left quite a legacy.

Mom was born and raised in Santa Ana, California and passed away 91 years later in Mission Viejo, California. She is survived by her 3 children, Terri Gick, Diane Hayman and Danny Briggs. She was an avid golfer playing first with Dad and women’s groups in Santa Ana and Soboba. Mom always had a huge circle of friends from work, bridge club, golf, vacations in Hawaii with friends. After Dad passed she played golf in couples groups in Soboba where she was paired with Don Nielsen. And Love bloomed. Mom and Don went on to travel internationally and entertain friends in Soboba, before their move back to Orange County a few years ago. Mom and Don spent every summer camping in Montana with friends and family too. Mom will be remembered differently by many but loved by all for the beautiful legacy she has left us.

Due to COVID-19 we will be honoring mom in a private memorial with family only. We ask for your understanding as we know her friendships were such a huge part of her life that she sincerely treasured.
