Irene Margaret (Trujillo) Fuentez 

“The real life Wonder Woman”

Heaven has gained yet another angel as Irene went home with the lord on March 6th, 2019. She will be waiting patiently for her surviving family which includes her loving husband of 59 years, Gabino (Gabby) Fuentez. Irene and Gabby were blessed with three children, Jim Fuentez, Joanna Contreras and Joel Fuentez. The family only grew bigger with 8 grandchildren following and currently 10 great grandchildren. 

Irene was born on December 3rd 1940 in Santa Fe, NM but grew up in Colorado most of her childhood. Irene was a coal miners daughter who at an early age, learned important values to live by. Irene set forward in life with both the strength and courage any young woman would need, shining bright in even the darkest of tunnels! 

At the age of 19, Irene met her husband through a mutual friend. It was a story unlike most, Irene was asked to partake in a wedding celebration for a friend named Bobby. It was Irene’s request that she be Gabby’s partner In the ceremony, the only way she’d partake in the wedding. Is it from that point on, that their friendship grew to love. Together with God, they embarked on life’s greatest adventure. In marriage, Irene and Gabby stayed truthful in vows, forever at each other’s side. Most, if not all, would say their marriage is a reflection of love, strength and God’s work. 

We celebrate Irene’s passing to welcome her home in heaven, although a difficult time to endure, it is with wisdom and understanding that Irene is in the best of hands, and always has been.
