Helen Barbara Parga Moraga
Helen was born on February 20, 1926, to Luis and Juanita Parga in Santa Ana, California. The eldest of 6 children, Helen was the big sister, and at time the “second mama.”
Born and raised in Santa Ana, Helen attended local schools exceling in both academics and athletics. At Santa Ana High School Helen was awarded the coveted membership in the California Scholastic Federation.
After high school, Helen went on to play Women’s Professional Baseball with the Lionettes. This love of sports and academics made her an inspiration to her friends and family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen met the love of her life, Frank Gomez Moraga, another local from the neighborhood and they married October 3, 1948, and settled in Santa Ana. They had three sons, Frank, Aaron and Steven.
Many of Helen’s favorite activities had to do with family and friends. She loved parties, dancing, watching her children and grandchildren grow into adulthood and often gave sage advice. A devout catholic, Helen was involved in various activities around their parish church, St. Josephs. Helen was an avid artist. She enjoyed painting, sculpting, and loved music, especially playing the piano and singing.
Helen was a real force of nature with either a hug, a nudge, or “the look.”
Helen leaves behind her son Steven (Diana), her grandchildren, Shauna (Derek), Frank III (Nancy), Andrew, Aaron, Timothy, Erik, Jennifer (Robert), Cody, Thomas, Kacie (Brandon), Vanessa (Braulio) and Halina. She also leaves her great-grandchildren Paul Jr, Geno, Lucy, Aurelia, Frankie IV, Emmett, Elliot, Remington, Emilia and Sierra.
And even though Helen will be sorely missed, she is reuniting with family and friends, especially her beloved sons Frank and Aaron and the love of her life, Frank Sr. Above all, she is with her Lord!
