Helen H. Ceja, 91, of Santa Ana, was born March 10, 1932 in Orange, CA and passed peacefully at home on November 20, 2023. One of nine children born to Emeterio and Lazara Escoto, Helen grew up in El Modena and moved to Santa Ana after marrying her beloved husband, Jess. M. Ceja.
Helen lived an impactful and meaningful life rooted in Faith, Family and Friends.
Her Catholic Faith was devout and remained a constant, guiding source of strength. The St. Joseph School and Church communities offered support and fostered many lifelong friendships.
Family was the through line for Helen. From her parents and siblings to her own children and a large extended family – this was her pride. She was generous, a role model, always available and welcomed everyone with a smile. Helen was a great listener and, when needed, imparted great advice. Plus, there was always great food!
Friends were plentiful across all points in her life. Most impressive was her ability to find common interests with so many and maintain these friendships. From childhood, athletic leagues, church, school, bowling, work, Angels baseball, traveling and neighbors to name just a few – people were drawn to her positive attitude and genuine nature.
Helen will be missed by many and remain forever in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her husband Jess and son Louis. Helen is survived by her children Peggy, Mark, Elaine and Christopher; and grandchildren Nick, Kelly, Sam, Chloe, Allison and Abby.
