Geralynn M. Kohake, of Anaheim, California, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026. Born on March 27, 1957, in Gardena, California, Geralynn was the beloved daughter of Dorothy (Metzger) Kohake and Mark Kohake, who preceded her in death. As an only child, Geralynn shared a close and loving bond with her parents throughout her life. Her mother often described her as a “living doll,” a nickname that perfectly reflected Geralynn’s lifelong affection for dolls, stuffed animals, Disney collectibles, and the joyful spirit she carried with her through the years. Geralynn attended Fullerton College and worked for the United States Post Office during two different periods of her career. She also worked at National Lumber, where she met many lifelong friends, before later serving in Human Resources at the Long Beach main branch post office until her retirement. A lifelong resident of Orange County, Geralynn spent most of her adult life in Anaheim, living just a short distance from Disneyland Park, a place she dearly loved and visited often. She delighted in collecting Disney dolls and toys, treasures that reflected her warm heart, imagination, and enduring sense of wonder. Geralynn was known for her kindness, generosity, and love of family. Though she never married or had children of her own, she shared her affection freely with her numerous cousins, dear friends, beloved pets, and the many children who lovingly knew her as “Auntie Gerry.” She especially loved showering children with gifts and encouragement, and she proudly supported the musical pursuits of younger relatives. She was an enthusiastic sports fan who especially enjoyed hockey, faithfully cheering for the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings. Her favorite player was Luc Robitaille. Geralynn also enjoyed women’s golf, figure skating, gymnastics, singing karaoke, and traveling. Among Geralynn’s greatest joys was her pride in her German heritage and her love of Irish culture, music, folk dancing, festivals, and travel. She cherished a memorable trip to Ireland and embraced the traditions and celebrations that brought her so much happiness. Geralynn also had a deep love for animals, especially cats, and was devoted to her two beloved cats who remained faithful companions throughout her later years.
Those who called Geralynn a friend or family member were truly fortunate to know her. Her gentle spirit, generosity, humor, and heartfelt compassion will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Friends and family are welcome to attend the Funeral Mass for Geralynn on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 717 N Bradford Ave, Placentia, CA. Burial will follow at approximately 12:00 p.m. at Memory Garden Memorial Park, 455 W Central Ave, Brea, CA. The Mass will be held at the church Geralynn attended as a child with her parents, and she will be laid to rest beside them — together again as a family
