Florence Pagliassotti

Florence Pagliassotti, age 91, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026. She was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother (nana), and friend, known for her smile, caring demeanor, and strength of character. 

   Florence was born on May 1, 1934, to Catherine Beardo and Arturo DeMarchi in Los Angeles, California. She attended Franklin High School and married Ario Pagliassotti on October 19, 1952. Florence and Ario settled in Glendale, California where they raised four children, Cathy, Susan, Michael, and Lisa. She was the proud grandmother (nana) to Jessica, Jennifer, Naom, Luke, Daniel, and Kathryn. 

   Florence was dedicated to her children and grandchildren, spending a significant portion of her adult life as their caregiver, transport service, and biggest fan and supporter. Florence worked for Pater Noster High School for approximately 10 years and, later in life, volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Huntington Beach. Perhaps her greatest achievement and passion, besides her family, was the Cathy Chapter, a fund-raising group for the City of Hope that was established in 1975 by Florence, Ario, and a dedicated group of friends, that continues to this day. 

   Florence was the consummate caregiver. Her faith was the centerpiece of her life. It guided her actions, brought her comfort, and shaped the way she loved and cared for others. She carried her beliefs with humility and grace and practiced those beliefs through simple and continuous acts of kindness. 

   Florence was preceded in death by her husband Ario and her daughters Cathy and Susan. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her strength of character, her smile, and the remarkable person that she was. May she rest in peace.
