Edward J. Farrell, Sr.

February 4, 1961-August 31, 2021

 

 

Edward J Farrell, Sr. went home to God on August 31, 2021 at the age of 60. He was born in 1961 in New York, New York to Mary Ann and Robert B. Farrell, later moving to Anaheim, California where he was raised with his three siblings. 

 

In Anaheim, Ed attended Saint Anthony’s Catholic Elementary School. He later attended Servite High School where he lettered in football and baseball. In 1978, his junior year, he was an essential member of Servite's legendary CIF Championship baseball team. At the conclusion of his senior year in 1979, Ed was selected to play in the storied 28th Annual Shrine All-Star Football Classic in the Rose Bowl. In 2010, Ed was inducted into the Servite Hall of Fame, along with his baseball teammates.  

 

Ed was recruited to Harvard University where he played tight end on the varsity football team and first base on the varsity baseball team. During Ed’s collegiate career he was a member of three Ivy League Championship teams: football (fall 1982) and baseball (spring 1980 & 1983). Ed graduated from Harvard in June 1983 with a degree in economics. 

 

Ed married Patricia Cameron in 1980. They welcomed six accomplished children and divorced in later years. Ed worked in finance thoughout his career, first as a Vice President for Merrill Lynch and then later as an executive with Aflac Insurance.

 

Ed loved to play golf and belonged to Alta Vista Country Club in Placentia, CA and Crow Canyon Country Club in Danville, CA. He was an avid Angels fan and was a dedicated Catholic who attended mass regularly.  

 

Ed is reunited in heaven with his father Robert and his son Christopher. 

 

He is survived by his long-time, devoted fiancé Lisa Sanders, his children Edward Jr. (Michelle Hawkins) and grandson Kieran, Colleen, Sean (Brittany Hazard), Cameron and Meghan. He is also survived by his mother Mary Ann Farrell, brothers Robert (Cathleen Caudle), John and sister Anne Marie (Chris Scibelli), as well as five nieces, two nephews and three great nieces. 

 

Services will be held at San Antonio de Padua Church at 5800 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road in Anaheim on September 17th and will include a recitation of the Rosary at 10:30am, a funeral mass at 11:00am with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
