On May 20th, 2025 Doroteo “Teo” Castro was called home to be with the Lord in heaven. Born July 1st, 1963, Teo was a man who cherished his family and grandchildren most of all. Teo was a man of unending faith, and had a loving heart for others. His ability to bring joy to those around him was unequaled, as was his work ethic and ability to teach and mentor those around him.
Teo was a veteran of the United States Navy, which he served with pride and distinction. During his time in the Navy, Teo received a Good Conduct medal, and served as a Navy Corpsman, and later a Pharmacy Technician. Following his time with the Navy, Teo became an Ironworker, a career which developed over several decades from Journeyman to General Foreman, Union Organizer and Instructor, and Superintendent among other job titles. Throughout his career, Teo was known as a hard worker, and his reputation followed him where-ever he went. Teo’s career took him throughout the United States, as well as Chile.
Teo married the love of his life Isaura on July 14th, 1984. Teo was a devoted husband, and soon after became the loving father of three children, Monique, Sabrina, and Adrian. As diligent as he was in his work, Teo surpassed this as a family man. Always willing to do for his wife and children what would bring them joy, Teo was a man who brought laughter and love in every moment he could. In 2015 Teo became an Abuelo to Emmeline and Asher, and again in 2020 became a Nano to Lucas. In 2023 Teo's family further grew with the addition of his step-grandchildren Lorelei, Malachi, and Ryker. Being an Abuelo and Nano was the great joy of Teo’s life. Teo showered his love and attention on his grandchildren, and celebrated every act, big or small.
Teo could always be found reading, and learning new hobbies. Teo consistently challenged himself, from teaching himself to play guitar, to learning about different sciences, and teaching himself to code. There was no topic he was not curious about, or willing to try. Teo’s love for learning was a cornerstone of who he was.
Teo served in the Ministry for the Assembly of God for many years. As a bible studies teacher/instructor his knowledge shined and enriched the lives of other followers. Teo also served as an Assistant Pastor, volunteering his time and efforts in the service of the Lord. Teo’s passion for his faith was evident in his speaking and the example he strived to set in his life. Throughout his life, his faith was a testament to God’s love, a love Teo showed to others at every opportunity.
During his final years, it was Teo’s faith, and his love of family which drove him to fight valiantly. Teo’s strength and trust in the Lord held true to the end, and we, his family, take comfort that he is at peace with our Savior.
No words could adequately describe the amazing man, husband, father, Nano, friend, teacher, or mentor that Teo was. No text could sum up the exemplary life and testimony that was lived. Teo will be missed, and forever held in our hearts through the memories we cherish of him.
Teo leaves behind his wife Isaura Castro, their daughters Monique Mead and Sabrina Castro, their son Adrian Castro, and grandchildren Asher, Emmeline, Lucas, Lorelei, Malachi, and Ryker. Teo was preceded in death by his father, Doroteo, and is survived by his mother, Ramona, and his nine brothers and sisters.
