Diana Lucia Stone, 87, was a long-time resident of Santa Ana. Born on August 28, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she passed away on June 24, 2025, in Laguna Niguel. Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years was Donald M. Stone. Diana is survived by her two sons, Michael D. Stone of Laguna Niguel and Christian M. Stone of Temecula, in addition to five grandchildren (Kathryn, Madelyn, Chloe, Preston, Eve).
Diana graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Inglewood in 1955 before attending and graduating from San Diego State University. In 1959, Diana took her initial teaching position at El Toro Marine Base School. During her time at ETMBS, she met Donald M. Stone who was stationed at El Toro. Diana eventually married Donald on August 8, 1964, in Laguna Beach, California. In 1969, they ultimately settled in Santa Ana and raised their family.
Diana was a teacher and mentor in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District and heavily involved in her teachers’ union (Saddleback Valley Educators Association and California Teachers Association) until her retirement in 2003. She taught most recently at Montevideo Elementary School, Trabuco Mesa Elementary School, and RSM Intermediate throughout her 42-years in Saddleback Valley School District.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on July 3rd at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Santa Ana.
