Deloris Mae Jackson, 82, of Santa Ana, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025. She was born on January 15, 1942, in Palacios, Texas, to Gladys Mae Roy and Alimes Lewis Miles. Deloris was the beloved sister to Oliver Miles and Robert Miles.
As a young girl, Deloris was deeply involved in the church, traveling with her mother, who started a church in California. The family lived in Palm Springs for a while before settling in Santa Ana. Deloris was a devoted member of the church, and for many years, she taught Sunday school with love and dedication.
Deloris married George Kelly, and had a daughter, Deborrah, in 1963. Later, she got remarried to Jeremiah Jackson and welcomed her son, John Ell, in 1966.
Deloris had a passion for helping others, and she worked many years as a housekeeper before going back to school to become a preschool teacher’s aide. She found her true calling in working with children and enjoyed this career until retiring in 2017.In addition to her work, Deloris was an active volunteer, spending many Saturdays feeding the homeless on the streets with her mother and grandchildren.
Deloris loved her grandchildren dearly and played an active role in raising them, offering support, guidance, and endless affection. In her free time, she found joy in simple pleasures, such as going to the park to watch the ducks, and enjoyed watching TV soap operas, often recording her favorite shows to watch later.
Deloris was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, daughter, and son. She is survived by her grandchildren; Jonathan, John, Jeffery, Delilah, Joshua, John Ell Jr, Marcus, and Johnell; and many great grandchildren. Her kindness, generosity, and faith will be remembered by all who knew her.
