David Gerard Mesesan died peacefully on June 22, 2026 surrounded by family at his home in Orange, CA. Born on January 2, 1958 to Andrew and Beverly Mesesan, David was a beloved son, brother, and uncle. David was preceded in death by his father, Andy Mesesan, in 1975. He is survived by his mother, Beverly, brothers, Kenneth (Linda), Mark (Tamara), Paul, and Mary, and four nieces and nephews (Andrew, Claire, Madeleine, Kevin). The Mesesan family owned and operated M&S Liquor on Main Street in Orange from 1956 to 1986. David and his siblings worked in the store growing up. He went on to manage Rod’s Liquor at the Orange Circle until it closed, then worked at SoCal Wine & Spirits until his retirement in 2025. David had a lifelong love of learning. He attended Holy Family Elementary School and Mater Dei High School, Class of 1976. He continued on to earn multiple degrees: a Bachelor of Arts in English and History, and a Masters with Honors in English Literature from California State University, Long Beach; a Bachelor of Arts in Classics from University of California, Irvine; and a Masters in History from California State University, Fullerton. David loved music and enjoyed going to rock, jazz, and classical performances. He will be remembered by those who love him in all the books, music, and films he generously shared. David was exceptionally kind, optimistic, and enthusiastic about life. He will be dearly missed. David was blessed with good health until the last year of his life. In April 2026, he was diagnosed with bile duct cancer. After a month of treatment, David began at-home hospice. He met the end with his characteristic grace, curiosity, and openness. He enjoyed his last weeks with his family, reminiscing about travels and talking about books and music.
