Connie G. Castillo, age 99, of Santa Ana, California has passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025
following a stroke.
Connie was born in El Paso, Texas, on March 10, 1926, and her parents were Juan and Angelina
Gomez. She married Leonard B. Castillo October 7, 1944. Together they had six children, three
girls and three sons. They started their family in El Paso, Texas, and in 1957 came to Orange
County, California to start their new life.
Connie was very active in her church, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Santa Ana for decades and
thereafter at Holy Family after they moved from their original home in Santa Ana closer to Holy
Family Church.
Connie loved to sew not only for herself, but also for her entire family and her friends. She
taught sewing at various schools and institutions. Connie loved to dance and taught at Arthur
Murray Dance Studio. This is when Leonard came to meet Connie. She was a dancer and
performed for Navy officers and Leonard saw her and made it a point to meet her.
Connie also loved adventurous outings such as traveling with her husband around the world,
riding camels, going ziplining in Catalina and taking various trips with grandchildren individually.
She loved to cook and share her cooking with all who came for a visit. In earlier years she also
enjoyed walking, caring for her grandchildren and raising pets from time to time. Connie loved
trees, plants and flowers and always wanted to be surrounded by the natural elements. Connie
always enjoyed visits from family and friends. She took pride in helping others where she could.
It gave her joy to help anyone she could.
After the death of her son, Peter Castillo, in December 2024, Connie moved to her last
residence in Assisted Living at Sunrise Senior Living in Orange. She enjoyed making new friends
with caretakers and residents.
Connie is survived by her children, Gloria Castillo, John Castillo, Katrina Castillo, Leonard Castillo
