Carlota (Castañeda) Rodriguez

Maria Carlota Rodriguez Castaneda, age 87, of Santa Ana, California, passed to eternal life on Saturday, January 15, 2022.  She is survived by her eleven children (Marcela, Carlos, Henrietta, Leticia, Julie, Javier, Johnny, Betty, Barbara, Ruth and Greg), twenty-six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.  Maria Carlota will be remembered as a tender and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and faith filled person who was willing to help all those in need. 

Maria Carlota was raised in Guadalajara, Mexico, in humble means.  She then moved to Tijuana, Mexico where she worked at various jobs, and where she met her husband, Margarito Rodriguez.  Maria Carlota and Margarito lived in San Diego for a few years where they raised their first five children.  They then moved to Oxnard for a little while and then eventually settled in Santa Ana where they raised their other five children. 

Maria Carlota was always involved at her local parish Church, Our Lady of Lourdes Mission, Santa Ana.  She regularly participated in parish events, assisting in organizing and selling food for fundraisers.  She is best known for her delicious and mouthwatering menudo and handmade flour tortillas. She was the pillar of faith for her children, and she was seen every Sunday taking all ten of her children to Mass, making sure all her children received all their sacraments. 

Funeral Services will be held at Christ Cathedral, 13280 Chapman Ave., Garden Grove, Ca 92840, as follows:  Vigil Service will be on Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 5pm to 8pm, in the Gallery Room.  Funeral Mass will be on Friday, January 21, 2022, at 10am, in the main Cathedral.
