On June 5, 2023, Bobi (Marshall) Keenan passed away at the age of 79 following a battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Keenan) Harrison (husband, Chris), and Sheila (Keenan) Abregov (husband, Oz), as well as her six grandchildren: Eddie, Maureen, Julia, Sam, Aidan and Elyse.
Bobi worked as a Registered Nurse at UC Irvine and Fountain Valley Hospitals in the early 1980s. She then moved on to travel nursing assignments at Stanford and New York Hospital (now New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell) where she was a professional and emotional advocate for patients suffering from HIV/AIDS. It was through these experiences that she found her true calling in nursing.
In 1990, she returned to UCI as a Clinical Research Nurse in the School of Medicine’s Division of Infectious Diseases. As an ACRN (AIDS Certified RN) she participated in groundbreaking research for 20 years until her retirement in 2010.
Bobi loved art, history, travel, music, creative writing, science, museums, theatre (especially UCI theatre), and connecting with family, friends, and people from all walks of life. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Bobi’s Memorial Service will be held at Sacred Heart Chapel in Orange on June 24, 2023 at 11:00am. In honor of Bobi’s life, please consider a donation to The Wooden Floor (www.thewoodenfloor.com), Concern America (www.concernamerica.org), Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange (www.csjorange.org), or UCI Claire Trevor School of the Arts – Theatre Guild (www.drama.arts.uci.edu).
