Born to Leo Bradford Marks and Naomi Cade on June 17, 1940 in Belcher, LA. Bennie was an only child, as was his mother and father. Bennie graduated High School from Herndon High in Shreveport, LA where he was a member of the dram a club, played trumpet in the band and was salutatorian of his class. He attended Grambling State University where he majored in math. Bennie served his country proudly in the United States Army. He joined the Wiley L. Kimbrough Lodge #91 in Santa Ana in 1988. After 22 years, he retired from Kraft Foods in Buena Park. Bennie married Betty Jackson in 1975. To this union was born two sons, Kevin and Kyle of whom he was so proud.
Bennie joined Christ at an early age and was baptized as Williams Chapel in Belcher, LA. He became a member of Christ Our Redeemer AME Church under the leadership of Pastor Mark Whitlock in 2010, where he was an active member and usher until his health began to fail.
Bennie transitioned peacefully at Windsor Garden Convalescent Center in Long Beach, CA with both his sons near his side. He will be forever remembered for his genuine love and kindness, his welcoming smile and his infectious laugh. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Kevin and Kyle, their mother Betty Marks, and one granddaughter, Aja Marks and his cousins Oley Bradford and Bobbie Connor of Shreveport, LA, his Church family and many friends.
He was proceeded in death by his Father, Leo Bradford Marks, his mother Naomi Cade Thomas and both paternal and maternal grandparents.
