Ben Younglove

April 22, 1927 ~ April 11, 2023 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Obituary

Perhaps the single greatest event in Ben Younglove's life was the moment he fixed eyes on Janette Coon in 1944.  Just ages 16 and 17.  Ben and Janette began an epic journey together, never separated except for the one year that Ben served in the US Navy during WWII.  At ages 20 and 21, they were united in marriage at the Riverside Mission Inn in 1948, it was a huge family event, fit for the movie stars.  They were blessed with 5 kids, beginning with Steve in 1950, followed by Marcia, Sue, Grant (Tigi) and Ben(ji).  Five children in 9 years.  Ben initially supported Janette through a family run oil distribution company until it was bought out by J Paul Getty.  Ben redirected his energy into his passion for cars, opening Home Auto Mart in Riverside.  It was there that his love for speed was expressed through the purchase of several corvettes.  Later he owned and operated a tire shop until he and Jan relocated to Salt Lake City to build homes.  Ben had numerous talents, but he loved building race engines and easily passed a certified auto mechanics exam.  Later in Life, Ben admitted his favorite years were while racing at Riverside International Raceway.  In 1968, he won the regional championship for B Production cars.  Some of his other talents include yachting, fishing, hunting, archery, gardening, sailing, photography and cooking.  Together they enjoyed 77 years until Janette passed in 2021.  Ben wanted to outlive her so Jan wouldn't feel the loneliness of losing a partner.  Almost 2 years later, Ben passed peacefully, returning to the love of his life.  It would be nice to believe they are holding hands in a cloud shaped like a 63 Corvette.
