Barbara Bellis Obituary

Barbara (Capozzoli) Bellis

July 3, 1946 – July 29, 2026

Barbara (Capozzoli) Bellis passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, at the age of 80, following a long and courageous battle with illness.

Born on July 3, 1946, in Jacksonville, Florida, Barbara was the cherished daughter of Louis and Jane Capozzoli, both of whom preceded her in death. She spent most of her life in Santa Ana, California.

Barbara graduated from Mater Dei High School in 1964 and remained a lifelong supporter of Monarch football. She earned her bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton, and enjoyed a rewarding career as a Library Assistant with the Rancho Santiago Community College District for more than twenty years. She also served as the bookkeeper for the family-owned custom cabinet business, R.S. Cabinets.

Barbara was an active member of the Ebell Club Santa Ana for many years. She attended Holy Family Cathedral in Orange, where she joyfully volunteered whenever help was needed. She had a generous heart and a quiet way of making others feel welcome. Those who knew her will remember her radiant smile, bright eyes, and the kindness and generosity she freely gave to everyone she met.

Barbara took immense pride in her Capozzoli and Flannery heritage and in being the daughter of a United States Marine. Her greatest happiness was found in caring for those she loved, preserving family memories and history, making every holiday and event extra special, and creating traditions that will live on for generations.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dennis Bellis; her sons, Jeffrey Bellis and Jason Bellis; her beloved grandson, Chase Bellis; her sister, Linda (Capozzoli) Herbst, and brother-in-law, Henry Herbst; and her nephews, Christopher McWain and Michael Herbst. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Barbara’s legacy is one of love, generosity, faith, and devotion to family. She leaves behind countless treasured memories and an example of kindness that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
