Robert “Bob” Emil Wetzel, 87, of Santa Ana, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family on August 30, 2018.
Bob was born on September 21, 1930 in Orange, California to Emil and Ada Wetzel. He
attended Orange Union High School where he met the love of his life, Joanne Lee. Bob and Joanne married in 1950 and spent 64 loving years together as a husband and wife until Joanne’s passing in 2014.
Bob proudly served overseas in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. After returning home he started Wetzel’s Ranch Market with his family and, eventually, a successful construction company, Bob Wetzel Concrete. His true calling, however, was as a loving husband and father, of which he had no peer.
Bob will be deeply missed by his six children and their spouses, Patty Nelson (Randy), Linda Ninemire (Mike), Peggy Garcia (Steve), Bill Wetzel (Denise), Beth Victer (Ron) and Tim Wetzel (Corinne), his 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. His pure and loving spirit will be missed by all.
Services will be held on Thursday, September 6th at 10am at Holy Family Cathedral Church. Burial immediately following at Fairhaven Memorial Park and Cemetery.
