Perma Lee Kendrick was born on June 24, 1937 to the late Frank Jones Sr. and Effie Chester Jones.
On Saturday, September 7, 2019, God saw the road was getting rough and the hills hard to climb. He gently close those loving eyes and whispered peace be thine.
She lived a very full life filled with family and friends. Upon arriving in Santa Ana, CA in 1957, she did domestic work while raising her three children. As we grew older she began work in the electronics field. She moved on to work at good Shepherd preschool where she retired after 10 years of service. She was an avid lover of arts and crafts and enjoyed quilting which she did every Thursday with a group of good friends that became like family to her.
Her passion was cooking and she achieved one of her greatest goals, along with her sisters; which was to publish a cookbook so she could share her love of cooking with everyone.
She was very proud of her service of over 60 years at Johnson Chapel AME Church. She served as a Sunday school teacher and work with the YPD. She was a class leader and church steward as well as working on several committees.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Arthur Kendrick Jr. she also leaves to mourn her passing, two sons; Carl Ellis Kendrick and Arthur Mark Kendrick, one daughter, Carol Kendrick Scally and son-in-law Conan Matthew Scally, three grandsons, Carl Ellis Kendrick ll, Adam Josiah Kendrick and Timothy Isaiah Kendrick, one niece, Carmen Therese Braga Kendrick and one great grandchild, Adam Josiah Kendrick Jr., two Goddaughters, Tanassa Mashawn Kendrick and Stephanie Johnson and Godson Patrick Johnson.
She is also survived by two brothers, Frank Jones Jr. and Edward Jones of Dawson Georgia, two sisters, Catherine Henry of Largo, Florida and Effie Cooper of Leslie, Georgia. One brother and sister proceeded her in death, Charles Jones of Riverside, California and Delorn Cooper of Leslie, Georgia and a host of brother and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
