Janet Louise Burns was born on July 18, 1938 to Charles and Helen Luxner.  She had an older brother, James, and two younger brothers, Michael and Robert.  She graduated from Louisville High School in 1956, where she was a beautiful baton twirler.   She met the love of her life, Richard Burns, while working as a car hop.  Richard described her as the “cutest girl delivering orders to the cars”.  Richard proposed to her at “their” place, an old mine park near Superior.  They married on September 14, 1957 and she started working at Dow Chemical in the payroll department.  Then, the kids started arriving, nine in all.  In 1960, the Burns Family relocated to Southern California, where they lived until her death.

Over the years, Janet worked as an LVN (on the night shift!!!), as a Labor and Delivery unit secretary, as a Hallmark store clerk, at Angel Stadium and she also volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital.

Aside from her large family, Janet enjoyed sewing, traveling, shopping, playing cards, the annual Burns Family Christmas extravaganza, dancing at family weddings and making her infamous pizzelles.

Janet was preceded in death by her 2nd daughter, Debbie Leider and survived by Richard Burns, her husband of 61 years; Bella, her beloved dog; and her children,  grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
