Dear Pop,
This letter comes with heartache as you leave this world and start your new journey with the Lord. You always said you lived a full and great life; "when it's my time; it's my time." You were known as "Pop" by your three kids; "Eddie" by our mother, your wife for 52 wonderful & memorable years; "Jr." by all your brothers & sisters; "Uncle Jr."& "Tio Eddie" by many cousins and other family members; "Gopher" by many in the sports community. You had an influence on everyone you met. We all loved your stories; from your days growing up in Santa Ana, CA. Attending Santa Ana High; how you told me the story of whistling your favorite song  in the halls "Eddie my Love"; hence creating your nick name "Eddie". Joining the Air Force right out of High School, how you went against your own father's wishes and got on the train to start your journey, travel, see the world while you served your country. After your service you met the love of your life; who would be by your side every step of the way. I look at the life you provided for her and the promise you made from the very beginning "I don't have much to offer, but I will make you happy". You both went through good and bad times, the best provider to your family; but I knew no matter how sometimes you got on Mom's nerves, there was always something to laugh about. You both displayed what the vows of marriage were meant to be. You both raised three kids, teaching us strong values along the way. Pop, we will always remember your love of sports. Football season will not be the same. You were the go to guy for all the latest news on the games and players. Yes, we are Raiders fans. You taught me & sister the game of softball. You taught my brother how to play football. Even after we got older, you continue coaching Pop Warner Football, South East Little League, and the occasional men's basketball league. You instilled, not only to us but others how sports can keep us out of trouble; get an education, learn something, travel, keep yourself busy. The endless memories of all our road trips. So many places you had been prior you wanted to explore with family; every trip was an adventure. Many times, it was not just us, but anyone who could fit in the camper or RV; including the family pet.Oh how you loved to travel; any chance we could. Pop, you were so much to me and everyone that knew you. My personal plumber when I needed things fixed. You always were able to help whichever way you could. We are going to miss you so much. A void has been created in our hearts, but we are going to fill it each day with all the memories. We promise to keep a close eye on our mom, and keep you close everyday. I said it not to long ago; but a daily routine is about to change. Life is all about living it fully everyday; and you have set that standard high.
We Love Pop; may you finally find peace. You deserve it so very much.
Your daughter, Isabel and family.
