Truebe, George Wilbur – 91 of Tustin, CA, a Quality Control Engineer, died Thursday,
April 12, 2018 of natural causes.
George was born December 27, 1926 in Decatur, Illinois. He was the oldest child of
George Roy and Sarah Mae (Butler) Truebe with 3 sisters (Geneva Ackerman, Mary
Walker, Agnes Kolbeck) and 1 brother (William Truebe).
George enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 at the age of 17 and proudly served in WWII
and the Korean War. He graduated from Milliken University in Decatur, Illinois in
1953 with a B.S. degree in Quality Control Engineering.
George and Lois Jean (Beaghan) Truebe were married on August 8, 1953 in Decatur,
Illinois. They had seven children (Mary Angela (Lapchak), Joseph David, George
Wilbur (died at birth), Peter Roy, Therese Ann, Christine Marie, Barbara Jean
(McLaughlin), eleven grandchildren (Joe Jr., Becky, Matt, Chris, Kevin, Brianna,
Sam, Keely, Austin, Alexander, and Ryan), and four greatgrandchildren (J.T, Sloane, Nolan, Charlotte).
George was preceded in death by his son George Wilbur, parents and sisters.
George lived his life with zeal, never afraid to try something new. He was one of
God’s Gift’s to his family, his country, his friends, his co-workers and all those he
met along the Way. He was a proud Husband, Father, Brother, and Grandfather.
His life was a witness and testament to his Roman Catholic Faith by manifesting
Christ’s Love to the people in his life by the way he lived. The best way to
describe our father is to echo the words of St. Paul: “… the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, selfcontrol … “ (Gal 5:22-23).
Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday, April 25th at Brown Colonial
