GUSTAVO HERNANDEZ Obituary

Gustavo Hernandez was born on May 4th, 1929 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras to Samuel Hernandez and Rosa Salgado. Gustavo led a life full of happiness, love and adventure.

In his youth, Gustavo studied at the Insitito Central de Honduras to become a lawyer. Just one year shy of graduating, life had different plans for him. At age 26, he met the love of his life, Bertha Argentina Chavez. They gave life to four boisterous and full of life children: Gustavo Enrique, Ivonne, Waleska, and Luis.

Gustavo Hernandez truly lived life to the fullest. He had a love for traveling and spending time with his wife and children. His children describe him as not only a loving father, but a father who made time for his children. Many stories shared about Gustavo have to do with his many cars, specifically a large bus known as “el busito.” His cars served one sole purpose: to travel with his family. In the case of “el busito,” it was to take the entire vecidad (neighborhood). Each weekend was full of adventures with going to beaches all over Central America. From Costa Rica to Nicaragua. If there were no hotel vacancies, they would prop up hammocks and sleep on the beach. While he was living life, he was leaving his children with irreplaceable memories that will continue to live on through them.

Not only was Gustavo a wanderer, but he was known to be a dreamer and a hard-worker. Shortly after his eldest son, Gustavo Enrique, Gustavo arrived to the United States. His dream was to eventually have his entire family with him once again. After the arrival of his last daughter and grand-daughters, his dream was complete.

In addition to his wife and four children, he leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. His personality transpires in a variety of ways in all of his grandchildren. From hardworking to loving, from patient to go-getters and from intellects to wanderers, we all have a little of our abuelito in our souls.
