After a hard-fought battle with cancer, Colleen Taylor passed away Tuesday morning, August 7, 2018, at her residence in Orange, CA, surrounded by her family and friends. She was 54 years old.
Colleen was born in Lansing, MI and raised in Dansville, MI until, as a teenager, she and her family moved to Santa Ana, CA.
She attended Santa Ana Community College where she majored in criminal justice. She knew as a young child she wanted to be a police officer and at the age of 21 achieved her dream of becoming a Santa Ana Police Officer.
She worked for the Santa Ana Police Department for more than 28 years. She served most of her career in the field, assigned to Patrol and was a Field Training Officer, a Hostage Negotiator as part of the SWAT Team, an investigator and a corporal.
Colleen was an avid woodworker, loved playing guitars, singing in the church choir, riding motorcycles, reading, traveling, and spending time with her beloved wife, Melody, and her family and friends.
She leaves behind, Melody Taylor, her wife of 33 years, her mom Janet Thompson Irey, sister Marcia (Chris) Grondahl, brothers Tom (Pam)Taylor, Ron (Eileen)Taylor, Jeff (Gayle)Taylor. Many much-loved nieces and nephews, stepbrothers and sisters, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to GIST Support International.
