Catherine Elizabeth Marks

Catherine Elizabeth Marks, 98, was a long-time resident of Santa Ana.  Born on April 26, 1925 in Santa Ana, she passed away on March 6, 2024 in North Tustin.  Preceded in death by her husband of 63 years was Robert E. Marks Jr., infant son Steven Marks, daughter Stephanie A. Green and son Anthony L. Marks.  Catherine is survived by her two sons, Philip E. Marks of Garden Grove and Paul A. Marks of Los Angeles, in addition to six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, five nieces and nephews.

Catherine attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School in Santa Ana and Graduated from Santa Ana High School in 1943 before attending Santa Ana College where a few years later she landed at El Toro Marine Base taking an administrative clerical position.  This new job provided her with an opportunity to meet many people, including Robert E. Marks who was stationed at the base.  Catherine married Robert on November 6, 1949 in Cherry Point, North Carolina and traveled about during his military career until Robert eventually retired in 1962, and the family landed back permanently in Santa Ana.

Catherine was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for over 60+ years where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and long-time member of the Altar Society. 

A vigil service will be held at 6:00PM on Tuesday, March 19th at Brown Colonial Chapel.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Wednesday, March 20th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Santa Ana.  Internment will be held at 12:00PM on Thursday, March 21st at Fairhaven Memorial Park, Santa Ana.
