Raul Antonio Vazquez, 50, beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, coach, and friend to all, died tragically helping another in need, on November 23, 2017 in Garden Grove, CA. 

Raul was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky on November 8, 1967 to Raul and Leonor Vazquez. The family moved to Los Angeles, and subsequently settled a few miles east, in Monterey Park, where Raul attended St. Stephens Catholic School, and later Cantwell High School in Montebello. Raul made his move to the OC in 1994, to continue his entrepreneurial ventures, most recently with the Los Angeles Times. He met his future wife, Maricela,while living in Fountain Valley, and later chose to raise their four children in Santa Ana. Their family expanded when they decided to enroll their children at St. Cecilia, and Raul volunteered to coach and lead the kids in various teams and organizations. 

Stylish, with a belief that every occasion deserved the appropriate attire, an avid sports enthusiast, and consummate joker, Raul’s real and abiding passions were his family and friends. Raul sought to instill in his children a zest for life, a commitment to family and friends, and the power of faith. 

Raul is survived by his wife of 17 years, Maricela Miranda, their three sons, Raul, Julian, and Joaquin, daughter, Miranda, his parents, brother, David, and two sisters, Leonor and Sara.

The family asks that you spend time with your loved ones and toast to enduring friendships lifelong and beyond. That is what Raul would wish.
